“Each wedding is different, each couple is different. I would absolutely love to tell your love story and help make one amazing moment in your life an experience that you’ll look back on and remember with a smile.” – Anne Miller Perth Marriage Celebrant

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO BE A CELEBRANT?

Well who wouldn’t want to share in other people’s happiness and celebrations, love my job! Being a celebrant I also get to meet so many fabulous people and hear their love stories and wedding plans, with each one different in some way. I also get to network with creative and passionate wedding industry suppliers who like me, just want to give couples the best wedding day ever!

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING IN THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?

I love what I do and I do what I do because I love making a couple’s wedding dream become a reality. It might sound corny, but honestly, seeing my couple’s smile, relax and enjoy their wedding ceremony, is the best feeling and I get to experience that all throughout the year.

YOUR MOST MEMORABLE WEDDING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE?

It is actually a very sad one because very early after I became a celebrant I was asked to help a couple get married as soon as possible as the groom wasn’t expected to live longer than two or three days. With approval for a shortening of time the wedding took place in the hospital grounds. It was a very emotional ceremony but I was determined to make it everything they wanted it to be. What an honour it was to help the groom marry the love of his life and make his dying wish come true.

“I love what I do and I do it because I genuinely want you to have the most amazing ceremony ever. Anything you want to celebrate – getting married, renewal of vows, naming your baby…I’ll be there!” – Anne Miller Ceremonies

BEST ADVICE FOR COUPLES LOOKING TO HIRE YOU AS A CELEBRANT?

I like to meet couples before they book me so we can make sure we connect, talk about their wedding plans, and I can explain how I make their ceremony awesome. I also let them know that I don’t do boring ceremonies and to expect their ceremony to be light-hearted, personal and authentic.

WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU RECOMMEND COUPLES ASK WHEN LOOKING A MARRIAGE CELEBRANT?

  • Are you available? I take bookings up to two years in advance and the wedding season months (ie January to April and September to mid-December) and Saturdays fill up very quickly.
  • What prices are your ceremonies? I know that everyone is working to a budget so I let my couples know right up front what I charge.
  • Can we meet before we confirm our booking? Absolutely! It’s so important that we ‘click’ because I’m going to be your ‘go to’ person in the lead up to your wedding day and on the wedding day.
  • Can we see your Terms & Conditions? Knowing what is and isn’t included will avoid any  difficult situations down the track.
  • What do we have to pay to secure our wedding date?

WHAT TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING IN YOUR PARTICULAR AREA FOR 2020/21?

With the COVID19 situation, I have officiated more registry type ceremonies this year. Most of those couples told me after their wedding that they actually enjoyed their ceremony being smaller and intimate because the day became more about them and not just an expensive party. Other trends – elopements with up to 20 or so guests, unplugged weddings are not requested as frequently and bigger wedding parties with boys and girls on both sides.
